UNplaza Art Fair 2019 Wrap-up and Photos

IMG_0213

Friends,

Artists are a hardy lot. They are tough.

PeaceWorks worker bees are a hardy lot. We are tough. As Ann Suellentrop says–Art and Peace, what a combo!

A few artists’ treasures were damaged by the Saturday storm. Some artists left the fair fearing more damage, more storms.
But many artists, even in leaving, said they were deeply grateful to PeaceWorks for putting on the fair, and then for opening on Sunday morning.

We are in awe of our artists.

Yes, income was less than half of last year’s gross amount. But we defied the rains early Sunday and said we would open the fair at 10am, hoping the weather forecast for 10-Noon would ring true, and it did (and storms predicted for Sunday afternoon did not happen).

We apologize for the lack of diversity in food options. We listened to your feedback from previous fairs and worked to secure five vendors, especially for our plant-based patrons. Unfortunately, weather and other circumstances prevented their full participation.

We were a great team — Dennis drawing the map(s), the crew putting the stakes out, Dave getting our electronics, machines, and data working, Diane using social media and attracting more artists, 60 volunteers showing up rain or shine, Sunny & Joseph & Jerusalem Farm supplying us with essentials, the traffic control signs crew doing its job and returning signs Monday am, Jim getting our large sign up and bringing our stage, etc. And on and on, I can go.

DEEPLY GRATEFUL!!!

Henry for the entire PWKC BOARD
