New site: Advocates for Silenced Turkey host International Women’s Day event 3/12

Reports from Turkey say pregnant women are being jailed and then have their babies in prison. The event—at 1-2 pm at 4405 Gillham Road—highlights women’s suffering in Turkey and throughout the world, and holds out hope locally through women’s empowerment.

Judge tells nuke resisters, ‘Continue to fight for what you believe is right’

The four defendants at the Feb. 18 trial were voluntarily arrested for trespassing May 31, 2021, at the National Security Campus, operated by Honeywell for the National Nuclear Security Administration. As one of the defendants stated the day of the trial, “Why are we on trial and not those who make these weapons?”

KC rally seeks “No War with Russia over Ukraine”

A combo—Code Pink, Veterans for Peace, and PeaceWorks—rallied with two days’ notice, with temperatures in the 30s, with snow underfoot. We insisted: No War with Russia over Ukraine. We won honks from drivers on the Plaza, plus coverage by KCTV5.

On Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, peace-loving activists gathered to celebrate the 1st anniversary of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (the Ban Treaty) with a rally and caravan.

On 1/22, celebrate Treaty on Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons

A short rally, a long caravan—what better way, in the time of coronavirus, to celebrate the first anniversary of the “entry into force” of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons? We'll park behind businesses at 46th and Main at 12:45 pm on Sat., Jan. 22, quickly decorate our cars and have a rally, and then caravan.
