Meet the Artist!
Meet Paula Winchester of Kansas City, an artist working in paint, fabric and a variety of other materials. He contact information is below.
Let’s hear her story!
As a Kansas City native, I grew up on the Kansas side, but settled down in the Brookside area of Kansas City, Missouri. A lifelong student of nature and conservation even while owning my business Herb Gathering Inc. for 36 years. It still exists today under new ownership. Once released from that weekly, year-round must-do fresh herb business, I began to open up myself to my more creative, artistic side. My painterly works are made with pastels and mixed media, but keeping myself contained into one stream of artistic endeavors no longer seems to be my style. However, no matter what, nature and conservation are still deeply found in my work and yard.
Starting in 2009 I turned 4 favorite pastels into charmeuse silk scarves (80”x15”), another 4 designs in 2010 and again in 2015. These scarves are luscious, saturated in color, and available in a very limited number. These, to me, are wearable art! People will notice. My signature is on each one! For this PeaceWorks Virtual Art Show my artistic endeavors are being presented on black or white 100% cotton wrist warmers, and even a few over-the-elbow styles. Why not a little flair and uniqueness on your hands and lower arm? Each has a story! Again, wearable art right there in front of you. By the way, they really do keep that pulse point warm.
My curvy front sidewalk is painted in the Jackson Pollock style, surrounded by a meadow-like yard of native plants and seasonal bulbs, and screened off from the street by 8 white Dogwood trees. Solar cooking is done on my driveway where the sun reaches, while 5 bird baths and 15 bird feeders keep the wildlife happy and me too. Enjoy my website and this unique CAN-DO VIRTUAL ART SHOW.
