As a social worker I understand the power of people sharing their struggles in a safe place. This weekend, in front of an estimated crowd of 150,000, people told their tragic and heartbreaking stories. Amy from Buffalo grieved the loss of his grandmother who was murdered in a devastating mass shooting.  A 40-something woman from Tennessee works 3 jobs, 64 hours a week, and still struggles to make ends while caring for elderly dad. A woman from new Jersey works full time, yet is still unhoused.
If anyone has any doubt about how insane the gross misdistribution of wealth in this country is, they should watch the Livestream of this Saturday’s event. Go to www.poorpeoplescampaign.org, and then go to June 18 rally.  As story tellers and story listeners, we work toward healthy power and healing.
