“A Revolution of the Heart: The Story of Dorothy Day,” a documentary, will be shown free at Rockhurst University’s Arrupe Hall at 7pm on Tues., Oct. 19 (directions are below). In the 57-minute film, Sister Simone Campbell of Network says, “She annoyed people because she challenged them.”

Dorothy co-founded the Catholic Worker movement, and several KC-area communities follow in her footsteps, including Cherith Brook Catholic Worker House, Jerusalem Farm, the St. Lawrence Catholic Worker, and the new Eliza B. Conley House of Resilience. The panel of Catholic Workers will speak after the film. The co-sponsors are Voices and Cherith Brook.

Speakers in the film, playing themselves, include biographer Robert Ellsberg; actors Martin Sheen and Susan Sarandon; Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York; Jim Wallis, editor of Sojourner; and activists Cornell West, Sisters Joan Chittister and Simone Campbell, and Dorothy’s granddaughter Martha Hennessy. Directed by Martin Doblmeier, the film includes archival footage of Dorothy Day and Pope Francis.
