The new chair of the PeaceWorks KC Board is Dave Pack, and Greg Swartz is our new treasurer. These and other officers and Board members were elected March 9, during the PeaceWorks Annual Meeting in KC MO.

Dave Pack for several years co-chaired Peace Action, the largest amalgam of US grassroots peace groups, including PeaceWorks KC. Dave has been a PeaceWorks member since 1995, and was chair of the PeaceWorks Board for 6 or 7 years in the past. He became treasurer in 2011, and now has re-assumed the position of chair. Thanks, Dave! Cris Mann has been our interim chair and now returns to being a PeaceWorks Board member.
Vice Chair Ann Suellentrop and Secretary Spencer Graves will continue serving in those positions. Besides Cris, two other Board members were re-elected March 9: Debora Demeter and Henry Stoever. Persons who are just entering their second year on the Board and therefore did not need to be elected this year include Mary Hladky, Chris Overfelt, and Kristin Scheer.
The PeaceWorks Board’s new treasurer, Greg Swartz, was treasurer for KKFI Community Radio (90.1 FM) for six years. He served on the KKFI Board for about 71/2 years. He currently is a day manager for KKFI on Mondays and serves on the station’s Finance, Governance, News, and Podcast Committees. Greg is also treasurer for Friends of Community Media, a KC-based group.
Further, Greg was an attorney for about 28 years, though he has not been licensed for 20-25 years. He did take some accounting in college, and some of his law courses covered laws related to accounting. Back in the ‘70s and early ‘80s, Greg was a legal advisor for Missouri Workers’ Compensation and handled at least 30,000 conferences in regard to work-related injuries. At some point in that time he was considered an associate administrative law judge. Welcome to PeaceWorks and its financial challenges, Greg!
