We are excited to welcome Kent Mead of Peculiar Bowls and his handcrafted wooden art back to our PeaceWorks KC Local Art Fair this year. Last year, they were a hit!
“I bought a beautiful walnut bowl from Kent last year,” says Mary Hladky, a vice chair of PeaceWorks. “I love the different shades of walnut. The bowl is like a platter with rims so we can see everything in it—the apples, oranges, and bananas don’t get hidden.” Others also appreciated Kent’s work last year—Peculiar Bowls sales totaled $4,000, making him the top seller.
“I absolutely recommend this art fair to artists,” Kent says. “It’s a great place for beginners and veterans. Everyone is friendly and helpful.” Let your artist friends know: artists may sign up now through Sept. 13 for the fair at Theis Park, at Oak and Emanuel Cleaver Blvd.
This year, the PeaceWorks KC Local Art Fair is Saturday, Sept. 21 (10 am – 6 pm), and Sunday, Sept. 22 (10 am – 5 pm). “I really liked the atmosphere of a diverse group of people in a park during autumn last year,” says Kent. “It’s a perfect combination!” Mark your calendars. Tell your friends and sign up to volunteer. Remember—all proceeds go to the artists first, then PeaceWorks KC, for our work to promote peace and resist war.
2024 marks our 33rd year showcasing local artists.
