Rochelle Fields

Meet the Artist!

Rochelle Wisoff-Fields is an award-winning artist and author with numerous published short stories and several books to her name.

She studied painting and lithography at the Kansas City Art Institute. After two years of disputing what was art and what wasn’t with her instructors, she dropped out. She spent the summer of 1973 as a caricature/portrait artist at the newly opened theme park, Worlds of Fun. Although she still enjoys working in pencil or pen and ink, her preferred media is watercolor.

“There’s a freedom to watercolor,” says Rochelle. “Painting is an intuitive adventure where I allow my brush to lead.”

Rochelle’s books include her historical trilogy, Please Say Kaddish for Me, From Silt and Ashes, and As One Must, One Can. Her short stories have been published in several anthologies. More of her illustrations are included in her own short story anthology This, That and Sometimes the Other.

She has painted most of her book covers and created illustrations for A Stone for the Journey, the coffee table companion volume to her historical trilogy.

Rochelle and her husband Jan Fields, a retired Navy Chief, live in Belton, Missouri. They raised three sons. Rochelle who describes herself as a cockeyed introvert, enjoys blogging, reading, dancing and swimming. Her weekly blog challenge “Friday Fictioneers” has a worldwide following.
