To park near our art fair, go to UMKC Cherry St. Parking Garage, and call for a shuttle to the fair. Also, read data about artists' diverse backgrounds.

An update right before the 9/21-22 PeaceWorks KC Local Art Fair: here’s info on where to park and on the diversity of artists.

Parking, shuttle. We park at the UMKC Cherry Street Parking Garage, facing Oak, near 50th Street, and we drive through the 1st floor (it’s reserved for UMKC) and use floors 2 and above. Then we walk or shuttle from the garage to the nearby park–Theis Park at Cleaver Blvd. and Oak in KC MO. Volunteers pull off the shuttle. To call it, call me at 913-206-4088. This park/shuttle process helps keep parking space along Oak for patrons.

Haley Sellmeyer is one of only 2 artists in the 12-17 age category, and she’s been with our fair 8 years!

Diversity. A few years ago, PeaceWorks began asking artists, on a voluntary basis, to share their age, racial/ethnic background, sexual identification, and whether they have a disability or may be a veteran.

This info is outdated because several artists recently withdrew for personal reasons, as often happens. On Sept. 17, we have 71 artists, but this info from a few days ago is based on registrations of 78 artists. Despite the shifting sands of this report, you can see variety blossoming.

Age: 2 aged 12-17; 1 18-24, 13 25-34; 12 35-44; 14 45-54; 17 55-64; 14 65-74; and 4 75 or older.

Among racial or ethnic groups: 3 Black or African American; 5 Latinx; 53 White; 5 Asian; 1 Native American; 2 biracial or multiracial.

Sexual identification: 50 female; 19 male; 6 genderqueer or non-binary; 2 transgender male or transmasculine; 20 he/him; 50 she/her; 8 they/them; 5 lesbian or gay; 55 straight/heterosexual; 1 asexual; 4 bisexual; 2 queer; 1 pansexual.

Re having special needs: 16 have a disability; 53 do not have a disability.

Veteran status: 4 vets.
