PeaceWorks KC Local Art Fair Artist Participation Agreement

(Please print and keep a copy for your records)

  1. I plan to participate in the PeaceWorks KC Local Art Fair at Theis Park in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday September 21, 2024 from 10 AM to 6 PM, and Sunday September 22 2024 from 10 AM to 5 PM.
  2. I will setup my booth 4-6 PM Friday September 20 or 8-10 AM Saturday September 21 (or both times). Upon arrival artists will receive a map of the area illustrating designated booth locations. Artists are to bring their own tent or table and chairs and everything else needed to properly display their art work.
  3. Unloading of cars will take place on Oak Street. PeaceWorks volunteers will assist you as much as possible. Cars are not allowed in the park. Cars should be moved after unloading. Artists need to work with PeaceWorks to avoid significant parking issues at Theis Park and make sure art fair customers have parking options. Artists are encouraged to use the UMKC parking garage at 50th and Oak.
  4. The art work I am selling is original and handmade by myself or people working with me, not imported or manufactured elsewhere.
  5. Payment for all sales will be made at the PeaceWorks cashier table. Artists do not take payments nor collect funds during the art fair. Artists will be provided with triplicate forms to use for each sale. Instructions will be stapled to the outer cover of the book explaining the procedure. Side payments or deals are prohibited.
  6. Artist payments will be mailed to them by the Friday after the art fair. Artists will receive 100% of the first 8.85% of sales (current KCMO sales tax rate), 75% of other sales up to $1,500, then 90% of sales from $1,501 to $3,000, then 100% of sales above $3,000.
  7. PeaceWorks will not be collecting sales tax on artists’ sales since artists will receive 100% of the first 8.85% of their sales.
  8. You should set your prices knowing the information in #6 and #7, presenting your patrons with a single price per item. Please avoid having “cents” in your prices (aside from 50¢).
  9. The $35.00 application fee will be refunded if you are put on a waitlist and not accepted to the art fair. If you initially apply but then inform us by Monday, September 16 that you cannot participate PeaceWorks will reimburse the $35.
  10. PeaceWorks will advertise and promote the art fair in various ways. PeaceWorks will supply artists with postcards artists may mail to patrons at their own expense (not required), and with fliers artists may post in locations they frequent.
  11. Artists are solely responsible for their art/display and property at all times. PeaceWorks will hire security to patrol the area from 6 PM Friday night until 8 AM Saturday morning and from 6 PM Saturday night until 10:00 AM Sunday morning. No shelter from the weather is provided. In the event of weather concerns, the art fair will close pending the return of fair weather.
  12. PeaceWorks will provide porta-potties, including one that is handicapped accessible, and arrange for at least one food vendor to be present at Theis Park.
