Come to 1/22 rally, Celebrate the Ban Treaty

Some 122 countries in the United Nations voted for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in 2017, and by now, 51 countries have ratified it—their parliaments or congresses have adopted it. The treaty’s “entry into force” occurs Jan. 22, and PeaceWorks-KC is celebrating this landmark event.

Join the PeaceWorks rally, “Celebrate the Ban Treaty,” 2-3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, on the Plaza at 47th Street between Main and Mill Creek Parkway. We’ll “social distance,” pass out refreshments, hear speakers (Henry Stoever and Ann Suellentrop of the PeaceWorks Board, plus others), and sing “Imagine” by John Lennon.

Between now and then, check out the billboards in KC MO calling for a nuclear-weapon-free world. One will be on 71 Highway; two will be on Main Street–one downtown, one north of 38th Street; and another will be on Broadway in Westport.

See you at the rally!
